What is Pain?

What is pain, if not a purely subjective experience?

We are each living our own individual experience while sharing the same space on this earth and in this present moment. We cannot truly compare the pain of one person to that of another…

Fearing the unknown hurts, broken hearts hurt, any type of loss hurts, loneliness hurts, physical pain hurts, mental pain hurts, loneliness hurts, injustice hurts, disappointment hurts, what you love hurts and what you hate hurts…

No matter the kind of pain, we all deserve validation and compassion, even when we suffer by our own hands and perhaps especially when we suffer by our own hands…it’s when we need compassion the most…

Don’t compare your hurt with another to show compassion… this happens often around us when someone says “I’m going through x pain” and the listener replies with something like, “you think that’s bad; I’m going through x, y, z and the entire alphabet of pain!”… not helpful at all… pain and suffering are not a competition… by doing so you’re actually showing complete lack of compassion…validate others hurt; and be present with them… they often don’t even need to hear “the solutions”…they need to be “emotionally held” in that space and time…

Although it’s hard to accept this in the peak of pain; but I do believe that pain was created in order for us to fully appreciate all that is beautiful and good, to embrace the reality of this life and to supercharge our longing for Jannah; where there’s no pain or suffering… your longing becomes stronger for that which you experience the opposite of… Subhanallah…

Even the greatest of pain and suffering will pass…and even if don’t ever truly comprehend “why” it’s happening here; we will in the hereafter…
